The Pacaya Samiria National Reserve —Peru’s second-largest protected natural area located in Loreto region— once again attracted the interest of the international tourism industry, as it was highlighted as a must-visit destination during the 41st edition of the International Tourism Fair – FITUR 2021 in Spain.
This was reported by the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia in an article that explores destinations —proposed by FITUR— to travel “despite” COVID-19.
In the publication, the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve is described as “an amazing place that will impress even the most adventurous people.”
As stated in the article, the reserve is a flooded tropical moist forest that is home to lakes such as El Dorado and includes up to 1,000 species of animals and 965 species of wild plants, as well as 50 native communities that rely on hunting, fishing, agriculture, and experiential tourism as their main means of subsistence.
