The Sacred Valley of the Incas will feature a new tourist viewpoint to be located in Yucay district, Urubamba province.
This infrastructure will offer spaces and services to local, national, and foreign tourists who enter and leave Machu Picchu Archaeological Park.
The project will be located in “Los Andenes de Yucay” archaeological sector at nearly 3,000 meters above sea level. It is a place from which locals have been enjoying —since ancient times— a spectacular view of the city, agriculture, vegetation, as well as the passage of the Vilcanota or Urubamba River.
Deputy Product Development Manager at the Regional Management of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Gercetur) Diana Gamarra reported that —in the area— improvements are being made to the trails and spaces for the enjoyment of visitors. These are made of concrete and stone slabs.
Likewise, the official said that visitors arriving at Andenes de Yucay Viewpoint will be able to enjoy amazing cave paintings and Inca Tombs that were recognized by the Ministry of Culture and are currently under protection (of the Peruvian State).
Getting to the place —which will become another new attraction— is not difficult. Visitors just go through the city by car and then walk for minutes. On the way, visitors can see hotels and restaurants where typical food or chicha de jora with strawberries are served.
Gercetur Manager Fredy Deza reported that this attraction will contribute to diversifying tourism in Cusco.
Recovering the natural space is part of the activation of new spaces for domestic and foreign tourists.
Finally, he affirmed that the project should be completed in the middle of next December.
