Peru cements position as top birdwatching destination at Global Birdfair 2022

Peru made a remarkable comeback at Global Birdfair in UK —a prestigious international event for birdwatchers and nature lovers— cementing its position as a top birdwatching destination, PromPeru reported.

At the event, the South American nation was reaffirmed as an ideal megadiverse destination for birdwatching.

It should be noted that Peru took part in this event after two years of absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

PromPeru highlighted that Global Birdfair is geared towards the final consumer, making it one of the most important ecotourism events in the world.

In this regard, the most popular destinations among the visitors to the Peruvian stand were Cusco, Madre de Dios, Chiclayo, Amazonas, San Martin, Cajamarca, and Loreto.

Peru’s participation in international events of this magnitude is key to promoting the reactivation of inbound tourism.

The event took place from July 15 to 17 in Rutland (UK), bringing together more than 10,000 visitors and 240 exhibitors.

The Peruvian stand —led by PromPeru— also featured the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur), the Peruvian Association of Adventure Tourism, Ecotourism and Specialized Tourism (Aptae), and the Northern Amazonian Council for Bird and Nature Tourism (Conave).

It is worth noting that last year Peru was the winner of the world’s largest bird watching competition, Global Big Day 2021
