The Government of Peru has relaxed the procedures for the arrival of cruise ships and merchant vessels in Peru —a necessary measure, without neglecting the health aspect, as well as COVID-19 controls.
This was approved through Ministerial Resolution No. 817-2022/MINSA, published on Thursday in the Official Gazette El Peruano, to which the technical document “Health directive for the exceptional reception of vessels in international traffic, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic” is annexed.
This document was prepared by the Ministry of Health and promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), with the participation of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC), the National Port Authority (APN), and the Regional Health Directorate (Diresa) in Callao.
It contains the requirements for travelers, in addition to the procedures for the reception of passenger and merchant ships.
Moreover, the document details the procedure for the evaluation of travelers and the epidemiological scenarios for the reception of ships in international traffic.
In this sense, it provides that the responsible entity at the national level is the Ministry of Health (Minsa), through the National Center for Epidemiology, Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).
On the other hand, at the regional level, the responsible entities are the Regional Health Management Offices and the Regional Health Directorates.
