Peru wins three World Travel Awards, including top cultural and culinary destinations

Peru has won three accolades in the global edition of the prestigious World Travel Awards (WTA), hailed as “the Oscars of the travel industry,” Peru’s Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) reported last Friday.

The categories in which Peru prevailed over its rivals are the following:

– World’s Leading Culinary Destination 2022

– World’s Leading Cultural Destination 2022

– World’s Leading Tourist Attraction 2022: Machupicchu

These awards confirm that Peru continues to position itself as a benchmark destination for tourists.

“This is the fourth time that Peru has been named world’s leading cultural destination and the fifth time that our wonder of the world, Machupicchu, has come first in the leading tourist attraction category,” PromPeru said in a press release.

In addition, this is the tenth time that Peru has won the world’s leading culinary destination award in the global edition of the WTA, “which brings us closer to the goal of establishing Peruvian cuisine as the best gastronomy in the world.”

”This encourages us to keep going”

“These awards are an important recognition of the work done by Peruvians,” PromPeru’s Executive-President Amora Carbajal pointed out.

“Knowing that our country is a destination that stands out from the rest of the world, whose rich culture and gastronomy are increasingly valued by international travelers, gives us huge satisfaction and encourages us to continue working to promote Peru’s attractive and diverse tourist offer,” she said.
