Cusco’s multisectoral authorities in charge of the organization of the Imperial City’s jubilee celebrations and the Inti Raymi performance at three different venues, are preparing the “Sun, Security, Order, and Cleanliness Plan” to make this event a success.
The Municipality of Cusco, the Municipal Company for Celebrations and Promotion of Cusco (Emufec), the Peruvian National Police, the 5th Mountain Brigade, the Public Ministry, among others, started meeting two months before Cusco’s Jubilee Day and one month before the many celebrations that are held in this area.
Rosendo Baca, chair of the Board at Emufec, told Andina news agency that the fundamental aspects (Sun, Security, Order and Cleanliness) will be guaranteed, so that citizens and tourists can enjoy the festivities without incidents and problems between May and June this year.
Each institution, according to their competences, will share ideas to overcome the problems of the previous editions of the festivity and the Inti Raymi performance.
“We will hold internal working meetings with each institution next week in order to elicit these ideas directly,” the official stated.
Two weeks later, the authorities and representatives of each organization will conduct fieldwork in Cusco’s historic center, mainly at the three Inti Raymi venues: the Inca Temple of Qoricancha, Cusco’s Main Square, and the esplanade of Sacsayhuaman Archaeological Park.
After three years of restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the launch of Cusco’s festivities and the 2023 edition of the Inti Raymi will be held on March 31 and April 14 in Cusco and at Waka Pukllana in Lima (to promote the visit of domestic tourists), respectively.
The launch event to promote the attendance of foreigners took place on May 23 in New York City, United States.
