Peru: A destination shining in major Italian media

The cultural richness, ancient history, breathtaking landscapes, and strides in sustainability in Peru have captured the hearts of prominent Italian media.

From community-based tourism in Puno to the exuberant fauna of Tingo Maria National Park, several places have been spotlighted in renowned Italian publications such as La Stampa, la Repubblica, and Viaggi Corriere.

The online portal of La Stampa, with monthly visitors surpassing 63 million, described Los Organos (Piura region) as “a paradise of adventure and mystery.” 

It also highlighted the community-based tourism in the Puno region and its inclusion in the “Top 100 Sustainable Stories” of the Green Destinations Story Awards. 

Another outlet that highlighted the various recognitions obtained in the latest edition of these prestigious awards was la Repubblica, a portal that has an audience of more than 97 million readers.

Viaggi Corriere, the travel section of Italy’s leading national newspaper Corriere della Sera, included Lima in a list of must-visit trips for 2024. 

Meanwhile, the portal Guida Viaggi, an important tourism-focused media outlet, spotlighted the regions of Arequipa, Ica, La Libertad, and Lambayeque, depicting the country’s vast diversity and numerous places that make it the “perfect destination for history and nature enthusiasts.”

The publications made in the Italian market have not only celebrated Peru’s natural beauty, historical legacy, and commitment to sustainability but also highlighted its unparalleled gastronomy, recognized as the world’s best.

Along the same lines, Radio Montecarlo, one of Italy’s most popular radio stations, with an audience exceeding 7 million, shared the history of dishes like Ceviche and Pachamanca, illustrating how Peru’s magnificent cuisine is the result of a mixture of different cultures. 

It also mentioned Lima as the city hosting the world’s best restaurant and Ica as an attractive destination for its dunes and the many activities available at the Huacachina lake.

The attention these media outlets have given to the country is the result of strategic communication efforts made by the PromPeru to present Peru as an attractive destination for the Italian public interested in adventure, nature, culture, and gastronomy. 

From January to October, 30,085 Italian tourists arrived and an increase in this figure is expected due to the efforts made to establish the country as an essential stop on the travel list for those seeking unique experiences.
