Amazonas region highlighted as ecological and cultural destination

The Amazonas region of northern Peru has a unique combination of nature and culture. For this reason, the Asian edition of the famous Travel + Leisure magazine has published an article about it on its website.

Thus, Amazonas is cementing its position as a destination for lovers of ecotourism, while visitors discover the cultural heritage of this area of Peru.

Among its tourist attractions, the publication highlights the experience of visiting the Gocta waterfall, one of the highest in the world, with a fall of 771 meters.

The fascinating landscape of this place, the path wound through thick cloud forests to reach this natural beauty, and the biodiversity of the area are praised by the magazine.

On the other hand, the report shows the legacy of the Chachapoya culture, which developed between 500 AD. C. and 1470 AD. C.

In particular, it highlights the mausoleums built by its inhabitants such as the Sarcophagi at Cerro El Tigre and the mummies at Leymebamba Museum, found near the Condores Lagoon.

The publication also highlights the promotion of sustainable tourism in the area.

For instance, it notes that the food served in the accommodations include Amazonas fruits such as cherimoya and passion fruit, which are grown on the properties.

Likewise, other menu standouts, such as Andean black potatoes —one of Peru’s 4,000-plus endemic species of potato— are brought from nearby villages.
