The World Travel Awards South America —the premier organization honoring excellence in travel and tourism— has announced its 2024 winners, with Peru taking the top spot in four categories, the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PromPeru) has reported.
Peru has been honored in three categories at the 2024 awards: South America’s Leading Culinary Destination, South America’s Leading Cultural Destination, and South America’s Leading Destination.
Additionally, Machupicchu was named South America’s Leading Tourist Attraction 2024, bringing great pride to the nation.
A golden history
This marks Machpicchu‘s seventh win of the prestigious award in its category as one of the Wonders of the Modern World.
Beyond its significance as a tourist destination, this acknowledgment shines a light on Peru’s rich cultural heritage, underscoring its place in global history.
“We are still leading the world of gastronomy! Our country’s culinary tradition continues to dazzle even the most discerning taste buds with its delicious recipes and local ingredients,” PromPeru expressed in a media note.
Peru is known for its riches, and the World Travel Awards South America 2024 reaffirm that it is truly one-of-a-kind on the global travel map.
