The new Jorge Chavez International Airport has begun operation tests with hundreds of volunteers, Lima Airport Partners (LAP) —the company in charge of the construction, operation, and maintenance of the country’s first airport terminal— reported.
“We have started testing at the new Jorge Chavez. Hundreds of volunteers participated in the #PruebaJorgeChavez, which enables us to evaluate the proper functioning of processes such as check-in, baggage delivery, security checks, among others,” LAP indicated via social media on Thursday evening.
“Thank you for being part of this historic experience,” it emphasized.
The new Jorge Chavez International Airport will be equipped with a state-of-the-art security system for baggage inspection, based on 3D computed tomography technology, to ensure a fast and safe flow of passengers.
South America’s first Airport City will be located in Lima. This is a large project that spans 900 hectares of land —equivalent to Miraflores district— which is part of this new infrastructure.
The new Jorge Chavez International Airport is expected to come into operation in December 2024. It will be the most modern terminal in Peru and the region.
