Machupicchu —one of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World— is Peru’s standard-bearer at the 2021 World Travel Awards – South America Region, known as the Oscars of Tourism.
Peru has been placed in the most relevant categories, and Machupicchu stands out among these nominations at this 29th edition of the World Travel Awards.
With this nomination, the citadel of Machupicchu —Peru’s main tourist icon and a World Heritage Site— is on its way to receiving a new international recognition.
This time, the ancient citadel competes to be South America’s Leading Tourist Attraction, an award it has obtained for the last three years in a row (2018, 2019, and 2020) in the regional edition of the World Travel Awards.
Machupicchu competes with Angel Falls (Venezuela), Atacama Desert (Chile), Christ the Redeemer (Brazil), Middle of the World City (Ecuador), Iguazu Falls (Argentina), Las Lajas Sanctuary (Colombia), Tayroma National Natural Park (Colombia), Perito Moreno Glacier (Argentina), and Torres del Paine National Park (Chile).
Machupicchu is one of the human constructions that arouses great interest in the world. Its imposing and enigmatic architecture —built entirely in stone on a steep mountain— as well as the comforting energy that is perceived when touring the Inca citadel are the main aspects that captivate visitors and motivate them to visit one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
