Peru wins four accolades at 2021 World Travel Awards

The Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) and Peru’s Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) have proudly announced that our country won four World Travel Awards (WTA) South American edition.

The categories in which Peru prevailed are the following:

• South America’s Leading Culinary Destination 2021.

• South America’s Leading Cultural Destination 2021.

• South America’s Leading Tourist Attraction 2021: Machu Picchu.

• South America’s Leading Tourist Board 2021: PromPeru.

“The awards granted to our country reaffirm the tourism-related positioning of Peru in the world as a destination relying on vast cultural and natural wealth, in addition to highlighting the magnificence of Machu Picchu as a leading tourist destination in the region and (PromPeru) as leading State-run agency in promoting tourism,” Peruvian Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Roberto Sanchez expressed.

The awards were handed out —in an emotional and symbolic event— at Expo 2020 Dubai’s Peruvian pavilion with the presence of PromPeru Executive-President Amora Carbajal and World Travel Awards founder Graham Cooke.

The South American awards version is just the beginning because the global WTA awards will be held in Moscow (Russia) on November 26.

For that event, Peru also has earned several important nominations. Thus, everyone is invited to renew their participation by voting for the Inca country in the global category competition:

World’s Leading Culinary Destination 2021.

World’s Leading Cultural Destination 2021.

World’s Leading Green Destination 2021.

World’s Leading Tourist Attraction 2021: Machu Picchu.

World’s Leading Cruise Destination 2021.

World’s Leading Tourist Board 2021: PromPeru.

The World Travel Awards serve to recognize and celebrate excellence in all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.

It is worth mentioning that the accolades were awarded within the framework of the symbolic inauguration of the Peruvian pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai.
