The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC) has confirmed that, according to the regulations that have been issued so far, international cruise ships with passengers and crew members are allowed to enter Peru.
Moreover, the government agency affirmed that cruise ships will be provided with the port services they require.
It must be pointed out that this measure is part of the actions taken by the Executive Branch in order to revive tourist water transport in favor of the population.
The MTC stated that this provision is the result of coordinated efforts with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) and the Ministry of Health (Minsa).
The statement issued by the MTC indicates that, according to current regulations, a health protocol is not a requirement for the reception of international cruise ships in Peruvian ports.
In this regard, the disembarkation of passengers is subject to current health requirements for entering national territory, such as proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test, as the case may be, and the use of face masks, among other provisions.
Peru is an important destination for international tourist cruise ships coming to this part of the continent.
Those large ships have arrived at various Peruvian ports such as Ilo, Matarani, Pisco, Callao, among others.
