Peru showcases cultural, natural, and tourist wealth to the world for Bicentennial

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched the “Peruvian Bicentennial Week in the World” —an unprecedented campaign to disseminate original digital content, subtitled in English— which is being shared through the social networks of 137 Peruvian embassies and consulates around the world.

The initiative has the support of strategic partners and local media across five continents.

Art, culture, and diversity

The digital campaign —which started on July 1 and will run until July 23, in anticipation of the Bicentennial’s central day (July 28) — features a series of videos, produced by the Special Bicentennial Project, about ten Peruvians who build the country we want using their creativity.

It also includes the unpublished video “Peru: Art, Culture, and Diversity” prepared by the Ministry of Culture to explain the challenges of protecting and promoting the country’s tangible and intangible heritage.

Awaken to Peru

With the support of Peru’s Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru), the campaign also includes the video and supports of “Awaken to Peru” —a promotional initiative aimed at relaunching the country as a safe destination in the post-pandemic era.

The audiovisual works “Peru: main tourist attractions” and “Trade prospects for Peru” —prepared by PromPeru— are also part of the campaign.

The Ministry of the Environment contributed to this global project with five unpublished chapters of “Peru, a treasure of nature,” which describes the reality and challenges regarding the protection and sustainable management of the country’s extraordinary nature and biodiversity.

Gastronomic mark

The campaign is supported by additional outstanding content, such as a video featuring “The best of the Great National Theater” —a selection of the most outstanding shows held at the main theater stage in the country; as well as “MUNA-Great National Museum” —a TV Peru program about the construction of what will be one of the largest museums in Latin America.

The “Peruvian Bicentennial Week in the World” will also feature an episode of a culinary TV show by renowned chef and Peruvian cuisine ambassador Gaston Acurio, which is dedicated to the history and evolution of ceviche.

Peruvian film industry

Additionally, the campaign closes with a set of awarded Peruvian films, as well as videos for a virtual visit to three exhibitions
