Peru boosts meeting tourism, promotes itself as bio-safe destination

Once again, Peru participated in one of the largest tourism events around the world (FITUR 2022), Peru’s Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) informed.

Peru’s participation in this travel and tourism-trade show aims to position the country as a safe and ready destination for international travelers.

“We are happy to return to a fair of international significance such as FITUR, to show how we have adapted to new travel trends focusing on sustainable tourism,” Peru’s Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) Executive-President Amora Carbajal explained.

According to Carbajal, Spain has always been and will be a key market for Peru. In addition, it serves as a connecting hub for travelers from other European countries to the South American nation.

Recovery strategy

The PromPeru official stated that Peru’s participation at FITUR is part of the promotion and recovery strategy adopted by the Peruvian Government to restore the flow of travelers to pre-pandemic levels.

For this reason, Peru was promoted as a destination with a wide-ranging appeal in segments of nature, adventure and culture, according to current travel trends and prioritizing outdoor and sustainable activities in regions such as: Amazonas, Ancash, Arequipa, Cusco, Puno, Ica, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Lima, Madre de Dios, Loreto, among others.

It is worth noting that Spain is the main source market for European tourists to Peru, followed by France and Germany.

“Spanish travelers show a high repeatability rate, which allows us to provide alternatives to the traditional circuit and diversify the country’s tourist attractions,” she added.
