Peru Pavilion chosen as best at Expo 2020 Dubai

The Peru Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai was chosen as the best —out of 192— thus winning the World Expo Awards in the People’s Choice Awards category, Peru’s Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) reported on Wednesday.

The pavilion has so far registered more than 1.4 million visitors since its inauguration on October 1, 2021.

The specialized magazine ‘Exhibitor,’ which awarded the prize to our country, held a virtual call for the public from all over the world to vote for the best experience of visitors inside a pavilion. It came to an end on March 15.

Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Roberto Sanchez affirmed it is a very important recognition of the efforts undertaken by the sector over six months —especially because it is about the appreciation of the international public that has shown its predilection for the beautiful Peru Pavilion.

“This valuable award fills us with pride and encourages us to continue showcasing the best of our country at Expo 2020 Dubai, so that the world can continue to discover Peru’s cultural treasures, its rich multicultural identity, and fantastic biodiversity,” the Cabinet member expressed.

It is important to keep in mind that our pavilion was presented with the Timeless Peru concept, offering a sensory experience, as well as a synthesis of our historical, multicultural, and mega-diverse legacy.

“The Peruvian Pavilion is strategically located in the ‘Mobility’ zone of the Expo, in a space with great flow that has made it possible to widely exceed the goal set in relation to the number of visitors,” PromPeru Executive-President Amora Carbajal stressed.

“At the end of the event, it is expected to have received 1.5 million visits,” she added.

The PromPeru official said this pavilion was an important point of commercial contact for our tourism and exporting SMEs from all Peruvian regions, so that they can promote unique tourist destinations and a great exportable offer, thus boosting their internationalization process.

Also, renowned chefs, artisans, and musicians gathered at the event lifting the name of Peru high. These gastronomic and multicultural sessions delighted Expo attendees, especially on the most important dates for our country.

Among the most outstanding moments are the inauguration and ribbon-cutting of the Peru Pavilion, as well as the National Day —held on March 7, the date on which the United Arab Emirates celebrated Peru in style.

On that occasion, our country showed the rest of the world cultural diversity, infinite richness, and the legacy of our ancestors, thus amazing guests attending this gala.
