APM Terminals Callao received 30 cruise ships after 2 years of pandemic

After two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, APM Terminals Callao (APMTC) received 30 cruise ships during the 2022-23 season, the company reported.

Thus, Callao’s Multipurpose North Terminal received the MS Roald Amundsen cruise ship carrying more than 250 people on board (including passengers and crew).

The ship, which arrived from Valparaiso, Chile, stopped in Arica and the Port of Pisco before reaching Callao on Sunday, April 16.

Representatives of the APMTC and the regional government, led by Callao Governor Ciro Castillo, were present at the welcome event, which included typical Peruvian dances.

After a day of sightseeing in the city, the MS Roald Amundsen set sail from Lima towards the Port of Salaverry on Sunday evening.

Thus, the cruise season, which ran from October, 2022 to April, 2023, came to an end. The next one will begin in October this year.

“The arrival of cruise ships means a boost to continue reactivating tourism and our economy,” said Manuel Galup, the concessionaire’s legal and corporate affairs director.

“We are preparing for the arrival of more cruise ships for the following season, and of course, it will be an opportunity to reaffirm and demonstrate APM Terminals Callao’s commitment to Peruvians and visitors,” he added.
