Peru receives four accolades at World Travel Awards 2023

Peru has once again been recognized in the regional edition of the prestigious World Travel Awards (WTA), hailed as the Oscars of the travel industry, held at a glittering gala ceremony in Saint Lucia.

The categories in which Peru prevailed over its South American rivals are the following:

– South America’s Leading Culinary Destination 2023

– South America’s Leading Cultural Destination 2023

– South America’s Leading Destination 2023

– South America’s Leading Tourist Attraction 2023Machupicchu

The award-giving ceremony took place on Saturday, August 26, on the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia.

According to Angelica Matsuda, the executive president of the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PromPeru), these awards foster the promotion of Peruvian tourist and cultural attractions at the international level, and contribute to the country’s economic recovery.

“We thank the World Travel Awards for recognizing our natural wonders, our great history, and our delicious gastronomy,” Matsuda remarked.

“We will remain committed to the excellence of the tourism sector and the promotion of the cultural heritage so that Peru remains a world-class destination,” she added.
