The villages of Chacas, Chavin de Huantar, Paucartambo, Pozuzo, and Taquile have been included in the List of Best Tourism Villages 2023 released by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
The above-mentioned Peruvian destinations were selected among 260 candidates from more than 60 countries, according to Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Juan Carlos Mathews, who highlighted such a global recognition.
The minister affirmed that this is a clear proof of the importance of these towns, which promote tourism as one of the engines for their development and well-being of their communities.
Moreover, this recognizes their commitment to sustainability in all its forms (economic, social, and environmental).
