Condé Nast Traveller: Peru is one of 10 friendliest, most welcoming countries in the world

Condé Nast Traveller —a prestigious international magazine specializing in luxury and lifestyle tourism— has included Peru in its selected list of “The friendliest countries in the world,” one of the categories of the 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards, in which readers from all over the world rated their favorite destinations.

In the article “The friendliest countries in the world: 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards” published on October 4, Condé Nast Traveller highlights that its readers voted for the most welcoming destinations from all four corners of the globe.

“We asked our readers to vote for the countries they consider to be home to the friendliest people in our 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards,” the publication reads.

Condé Nast Traveller states that Peru brings together all landscapes one could experience in the world, due to the number of climates that it is home to, and refers to Machu Picchu as the country’s most famous landmark.

“Home to no less than 28 of the world’s 32 climates, Peru is a country that seems to band together every landscape you could experience. From the jagged Andes (the longest continental mountain range in the world) to the tropical Amazon basin and fringing the outskirts, some pretty exquisite – if a-typical – coastline,” the magazine said in the article.

“The 15th-century Inca citadel of Machu Picchu is perhaps the country’s most famous landmark, though locals will tell you that the Lost City of Choquequirao is much more extensive (though harder to reach on foot),” it added.

The prestigious list of the friendliest and most welcoming countries in the world also includes Colombia, Costa Rica, the Philippines, French Polynesia, New Zealand, Thailand, Botswana, Belize, and Sri Lanka.

It should be noted that Peru’s status as a world-class tourist destination has been recognized not only by prestigious international publications on travel and tourism, such as the National Geographic, Travel + Leisure, Wanderlust, among others, but also at important tourism competitions worldwide in which the country took the first place.
